Turkish food has similarities to some Middle Eastern dishes (there are many
kebab choices, for instance), but the preparations are more complicated.
Mucver ($5.50), which Turkish friends have made for me, are tender, eggy
zucchini pancakes flavored with feta cheese. The zucchini is peeled and
chopped finely so the pancakes are less fritterlike and more pillowlike. An
eggplant salad ($5), the famous patlican salatasi, has such a silky and creamy
texture that you notice the smoky quality only after a bite or two. The puree is
